When you use Alive Reader, we may collect the following information:

• Account information: Email address, name, and profile image when you sign in with Apple, Google, or magic link.
• Uploaded content: EPUB files you upload for reading, translation, and audiobook generation.
• Usage data: Reading progress, bookmarks, and preferences.
• Payment information: Processed securely through Stripe, Apple In-App Purchase, or Google Play Billing. We do not store your payment card details.
• Voice recordings: If you choose to use the custom voice feature, we store your voice recording for audiobook generation.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide and improve the Alive Reader service
• Process translations and generate audiobooks
• Sync your reading progress across devices
• Process payments
• Communicate with you about your account

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Convex (database), Cloudflare R2 (audio files), and Convex Storage (uploaded files). We use encryption in transit (TLS) and implement access controls to protect your data.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Convex: Database and backend
• Cloudflare: CDN and file storage
• OpenRouter (OpenAI): Translation processing
• Modal: TTS audio generation
• Stripe: Payment processing
• Resend: Email delivery for magic links

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Deletion: Request that we delete your account and all associated data.
• Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
• Portability: Request a machine-readable export of your data.

We use essential cookies required for authentication and app functionality. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and does not use cookies or track individual users. We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to third parties.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Children's Privacy

Alive Reader is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
